I've always driven straight past Riversdale on the N2 and it really is worth a visit. Die Opstal is 2km from the centre of town and driving there, I was astounded at the price of diesel - R2 a litre cheaper than I had just paid in neighbouring Heidelberg! It's budget accommodation, but Die Opstal does it very well and I would definitely stay there again. The views across to the mountains are awesome. The kitchen is well-equipped and the unit has lots of space - it's about three times the size of the 4 star hotel I stayed in the night before. ]]> Sun, 03 Nov 2019 07:30:45 +0200 <![CDATA[Nina's Self-Catering Hermanus: Excellent stay]]> /self-catering/discussions/review?id=30 /self-catering/discussions/review?id=30 Well equipped and ideally located ]]> Thu, 07 Dec 2017 13:44:12 +0200 <![CDATA["Constantia Cottages" - Self-catering Holiday Homes: Best stay in Cape Town!]]> /self-catering/discussions/review?id=26 /self-catering/discussions/review?id=26 Hans, the owner, is a wonderful person! My mom was in hospital and there was a lot of confusion as to when I could take her home. Hans was very understanding and accommodating which put my mind at ease during such a stressful time. I am very grateful for this. He was extremely helpful whenever I called, at any time! And also great to chat to and his 2 dogs are very sweet [and quiet as well]! I stayed in the Chardonnay cottage and what a pleasure it was! Very private and quiet. Extremely comfortable & cozy. The kitchenette is perfect and has everything you need. Wifi was strong and superb! I had very secure parking and my own private access to the cottage. The lovely garden and pool was just a trot away. I will definitely only be staying at Constantia Cottages whenever I visit Cape Town and I urge others to give this gem a visit. ]]> Mon, 03 Aug 2015 14:43:28 +0200 <![CDATA[Tzaneen Country Lodge, Convention Centre & Spa: Sheer professionalism]]> /hotels/discussions/review?id=25 /hotels/discussions/review?id=25 Of all the places I stayed at in Limpopo, this was by far the most professional. They work hard at their product offering and you can be assured of a comfortable and pleasing stay. The pub, the restaurant, the farmstall, the chapel, the spa and... most of all... the staff - all added up to a memorable experience. Don't make it just a one-night stopover if you're a tourist. Use it as a base or add an extra day for chill time. ]]> Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:53:19 +0200 <![CDATA[Villa Jaimè: Villa Jaime cave dweller]]> /self-catering/discussions/review?id=19 /self-catering/discussions/review?id=19 I was unable to sleep, don't think I will stay here the full duration of my stay. ]]> Sun, 28 Dec 2014 02:59:56 +0200 <![CDATA[414 on Park: A Perfect Getaway]]> /self-catering/discussions/review?id=15 /self-catering/discussions/review?id=15 Fri, 14 Mar 2014 07:30:44 +0200 <![CDATA[Pumula Guest Farm: Dramatic setting & a pefect break from the ratrace]]> /self-catering/discussions/review?id=13 /self-catering/discussions/review?id=13 The Maloti Route, which includes Fouriesburg and Clarins, is one of SA's gems. If Namibia can make No 6 on the New York Times list of Places to Go in 2014, the only reason this area never made it is because the NY Times (and many others) don't know about it. It is breathtakingly stunning and the perfect antidote to city life! Delightful Clarins is the Franschhoek of the Free State and Fouriesburg was chosen as Kwela's Dorp of the Year. Pumula Guest Farm is a working farm with sheep, cows and horses... and a setting that can't be beaten. It provides luxury accommodation alongside a dam with mountain sandstone rock formations that change with the the light of the day. It's a place where time takes on a different meaning and one's batteries recharge. Pumula Guest Farm is highly recommended. ]]> Sat, 01 Feb 2014 19:52:14 +0200 <![CDATA[Cherry Tree Cottage B&B Linden: Not your typical B&B]]> /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=12 /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=12 Don't be misled by the 3 Star rating, this is easily a 4-star establishment. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with decor which differentiates it from most B&B rooms. Most rooms open onto individual patios so you don't have that closed-in-a-room feeling. It's within walking distance of a number of good restaurants and Linden's main shopping and restaurant area is a short walk around the corner. Marelyn & Ron are great hosts and a mine of information about the area. ]]> Sun, 18 Aug 2013 05:15:01 +0200 <![CDATA[Stanford River Lodge: Experience the moods of the River!]]> /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=10 /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=10 This would be a great lodge anywhere - for its laid back style (with B&B or spacious self-catering options) with meticulous attention to detail, but it's the river location that sets it apart. The Klein River is mesmerizing, it has a life of it's own - whether you just sit and watch it from your verandah - the river's ever-changing mood and light, the boats, birds and skiers passing by - or be a little more energetic and take one of the Lodge's canoes for a paddle up-river or down to Hermanus lagoon. That's an enthralling trip to take. John & Valda are wonderful hosts. ]]> Sun, 04 Aug 2013 04:48:01 +0200 <![CDATA[Liz at Lancaster: Stylish, small B&B]]> /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=9 /guest-houses-b-bs/discussions/review?id=9 Liz Delmont runs a very professional, small B&B. The room was large and very comfortable. With self-catering facilities, it's perfect for longer stays. But the breakfasts are a treat where the attention to detail shines through again. ]]> Sun, 21 Jul 2013 11:18:20 +0200
