My daughter and her partner promised me a treat one Sat morning when I was visiting them in Somerset West…….we landed up at the Harold Porter Nature reserve…..Im not that fit so when we started climbing the mountain I was not sure if I would be able to keep up. Well the higher we climbed the more beautiful it got. The streams and plants were fantastic. So peaceful and well looked after. Safe climbing with secure wooden assistance where necessary. It took us about 3 hours up and down, and 2.5 hours to complete. I was sooo proud of myself as did not keep them back at all. I can recommend it for a day outing.
We then went to Kleinmond and enjoyed some fish and chips at a little cafe. What a lovely outing.

Only one housebreaking 10 weeks ago with known culprits from Strand, and Pringle Bay was also crime free the previous two months. Had however a series of incidents half a year ago until three Mozambicans were arrested. Neighboring Betty’s Bay have up to 5 housebreaking/ theft out of motor vehicle incidents in a 24 hour period. Also theft of copper taps, etc. in Bettys. Alicia is welcome to attend the monthly Community Police Forum meetings.

People who complain about crime in Pringle are ungrateful and out of touch with reality. Been living here for a while and the crime is petty and very irregular compared to the rest of the province and country. A place where one still feels safe, something to cherish.

I’ve been here two months and that’s the first I’ve heard about it! I have been totally unaware of it. I hear far more about increasing crime levels in other small towns.
