The Psychedelic Theatre is back to light up the Garden Theatre at the Afrikaanse Taalmonument on Saturday the 28th of December with their beautiful flames, as part of the summer picnic series held in aid of the “Laat ons lees!“ reading project for children.
The 60 minute Picnic on Fire show will include music, dance and all kinds of weird and wonderful fire props - burning hula-hoops, fire breathers, palm candles and fire snakes to just name a few.
Founding member of the Psychedelic Theatre, Marvin Lee-Beukes, says that after the success of their shows in Cape Town last season they have been hard at work choreographing new acts and performing them all around Cape Town and in Namibia.
“This December we’ll be back in Paarl to do a showcase of all our most recent work. We are looking forward to welcoming the locals, the tourists and holiday goers to the Taalmonument to experience a spectacular night out with beautiful scenery, breathtaking sunsets, a picnic and of course a fire dance phenomenon.”
The picnic starts at 18:00. The performance starts at 20:30 in the Garden Theatre on the lawn right next to the monument. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets or they can order one from Volksmond Coffee Shop (tel. 021 863 2800). Coffee, beer, wine and light refreshments will be for sale.
Tickets are pre-sold at www.paarlpost.co.za as well as at the Taalmonument, at R60 for adults and R10 for children. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the gate at R70 for adults and R10 for children. Please bring your student or pensioners card along. Remember to bring a blanket or cushion and warm clothes. Safe parking is available and access is controlled. No dogs are allowed.
