The Hangklip Coast includes the towns of Kleinmond, Betty's Bay, Hangklip, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els. The area has a typical Mediterranean climate: cool, wet winters with dry and hot summers. The thin belt between the mountains and the sea hosts many wonders: from high peaks and fynbos-covered mountain slopes, rough ravines, caves, rivers and streams tumbling over edges to pristine beaches. The indigenous forest and fynbos are home to a wide variety of animals, birds and insects.

Walks & Cycle Trails
Pringle Bay
Hangklip Mountain (strenuous, about 3.5 hours, no dogs)
Entrance on Clarence Road close to the junction with Stream Road. Follow the stream up the valley for approximatey 1.5km, turn off to the right and the trail snakes its way up to the top of Hangklip Mountain. Return on the same path. Not recommended during strong winds.
Brodie Link (medium, about 1.5 hours, no dogs)
Start at either the designated parking on the R44 or follow the old jeep track from the eastern end of Caesar Road. Follow a steep ascent to the T-junction. The left fork descends towards Betty's Bay. Keep right until another junction - go right & climb a short but fairly steep section to two view sites. Return by the same route. Beware of loose stones on the path coming down.
The Lighthouse Trail (easy, 1 - 2 hours, dogs permitted)
Start from the beach to the right of the Maasbaai slipway and walk west around the coast to the lighthouse and two beautiful beaches, Kleinbaai and Grootbaai (Moonlight Bay). Halfway along the second beach is the shortcut through the dunes which joins up with Hangklip Road and back to the parking area.
Old Coastal Gravel Road from Pringle Bay to Rooi Els (medium, about 1 hour each way, cycling, dogs permitted)
The land on both sides of the road is privately owned. Locked gates at both ends allow pedestrian access. The easiest approach is from the gate just off the R44. Good and varied rocky mountain bike trail. Stay on the road.
Maasbaai (easy, cycling)
Follow Hangklip Road until it becomes gravel, pass the Hangklip Hotel and take the right fork to Maasbaai. A bumpy but flat ride there and back (3.2km = gravel road).
