The Karoo Backpackers is situated on the N1 between Johannesburg and Cape Town in Beaufort West, the heart of the Great Karoo. The accomodation ranges from single rooms to dormitory rooms. All rooms in this wonderfully restored National Monument are spacious and clean. The brandnew mattress are oversized to give you a good night's rest. We are situated on the main road in this quaint Karoo town, close to all amenities. Come, relax and experience the vastness, the peacefulness and the tranquility of the Great Karoo!

Our three rooms in the main house cater for the different requirements of our guests. Just have a closer look on our rooms. Beside the rooms, the main house offers a communal kitchen and lounge area and a braai place in the yard.

Dorm 6

This spacious room provides enough space for three bunk beds so six people can sleep in this room without feeling squeezed. The beds are especially manufactured for our purposes. So the beds are higher, wider and larger than usual beds. On every bed you have a little table with a wall socket so that you can conveniently charge your phone. The private bathroom is on the passage and also very spacious.

Dorm 4

This dormitory has enough space to accommodate four people and is also ideal for families. Our beds in this room are higher, wider and longer than usual beds. A single bed can still be fitted into this room if the group or family is bigger.

A highlight of this room is the spacious en-suite bathroom with its very own designed Karoo touch in it.

Double Room with en suite bathroom

We do not only have dormitories we also provide this room as a private room. Our room with an en-suite bathroom and two extra large and wide single beds. The mattresses are brand new and will give you a good night's rest. The ideal room after a hectic day on the road.

Apartment Unit

This spacious flat has got three double rooms, a fully furnished kitchen for self catering, and a spacious lounge area, a shared bathroom, a big wrap-around-balcony, an extra toilet facility, a TV and a pool table.
