About the establishment
1 Milkwood is a spacious upmarket, secure B&B in the exclusive suburb of West Beach in the coastal town of Port Alfred. Situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is ideally located for both summer or winter holidays, or business bookings. It is well situated on the ridge, affording magnificent 180 degree sea views, extraordinary sunrises & whale/dolphin watching. It is a mere 500 meter stroll to Kelly's Beach, a safe swimming beach with Blue Flag status.
A huge advantage of booking at 1 Milkwood is that each bedroom is in a separate wing of the house, ensuring privacy and you should not be able to hear other guests in their rooms.
1 Milkwood comfortably sleeps up to 9 guests. It has its own private garden with many of the protected Milkwood trees and the beautiful Clivias which flower early spring. It is in a prominent position and yet is secluded from neighbours. It affords great whale watching opportunities from the comfort of the lounge, kitchen, dining area or any of the bedrooms.
All 4 bedrooms have sea views and some have golf course views too. The house has open-plan communal living areas both upstairs and downstairs, with 4 bedrooms leading off on the wings. The accommodation offers an en-suite king-size bedroom downstairs, 2 queen-size bedrooms upstairs, 1 en-suite and the other shares a bathroom with a fourth family bedroom with 3 single beds. All have plenty of cupboard space. The 3 bathrooms all have showers, baths and toilets and there are 2 separate guest toilets on each floor.
Quality linen, towels and hospitality items are supplied. There is a double garage and parking bay for a third car. Parking works on a first in basis. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and DStv on flat screen FHD TVs is provided.
A continental breakfast is included, if reserved at check-in.
For golf lovers, there is The Royal Port Alfred Golf Club course which was designed in the early 1900s by Dr WH Atherstone and is within walking distance from the house. Activities to be enjoyed in Port Alfred include boating, water skiing, hiking, hunting, horse riding, bird watching, big game (malaria free) and surfing. Excellent diving can be enjoyed at Fountain Rocks, one of South Africa’s most colourful reefs and a breeding ground for the ragged tooth shark.
