About the establishment
Self catering luxury accommodation in Mpumalanga situated in the beautiful valley of Houtboschoek only 48 kms from Nelspruit and only 100 km's from the famous Kruger National Park. Caracal Lodge is surrounded by beautiful grassy mountains, home to the Mountain Reedbuck and Grey Rhebok,Oribi and Bushbuck which are indigenous to the area.
300 Ha of unspoiled nature completely game fenced and secure and Malaria free.
Other species which have been introduced are Impala, Zebra, Kudu, Nyala, Livingstone Eland, waterbuck and Giraffe.
We also offer game drives where at the same time you will have a real 4 x 4 experience enjoying our magnificent views.
We have marked hikes and 2 waterfalls. If you are adventurous you can visit our caves which are situated in a beautiful gorge next to one of our waterfalls.
Our dam is stocked with Bass and Kurper which can be caught on a catch and release basis.
We now also offer Clay target shooting over one of our beautiful valleys where you can test your skills and try something new and lots of fun.

We have also recently added a pool ( snooker ) room for your enjoyment.
We are close to Kaapsehoop which is a quaint village famous for their wild horses. We are also close to the Sudwala caves and the Panorama drive is a lovely days outing on a clear day ( Sabie,Pigrims Rest ,Graskop, God’s window, Blyde River Canyon ).
Some of our cottages have now got their own Cuddle Puddle ( Rock Pool ) to relax in with a drink or just to cool down.
Have a unique experience and get to touch and scratch Gerry our friendly giraffe who will visit you at your cottage.
Caracal Lodge has 5 luxury self catering cottages, Kudu, Nyala, Figtree, Stone Circle and Magtree, of which 3 are private luxury bush cottages for couples romantically lit by lamp and LED lighting with gas fridge,freezer,stove,and geyser. Each of these 3 have fireplaces and braai areas.
Alternatively Kudu and Nyala have full Dstv and are 2 bedroom cottages with all the comforts.
