ACCOMMODATIONS: LAGOON LODGE: All Inclusive
For the ultimate private getaway, Lagoon Lodge captures the essence of tranquility with just five safari style suites woven into an ancient milkwood grove on the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon. A pampered stay here is all-inclusive of meals, adventure activities and house beverages.
Stone and glass walls open onto private decks for spectacular mountain views and bird watching. Soft bedding lies beneath romantic netting where one falls asleep listing to owls and wakes up to the sound of the African Fish Eagle. Each room has a bathtub and a private outdoor shower for an African bush experience. A king bed or two twins can be accommodated. Rooms include pure linen & cotton towels, organic Rain bath amenities, ultra soft bathrobes, coffee plunger, bar refrigerator, wine, sherry and fireplace.
Boardwalks under a canopy of ancient Milkwood trees lead to a lounge where drinks and meals are shared outdoors or by a fireplace that will warm the soul. A heated plunge pool overlooking the mountains is a favorite place to spot birds. And as evening falls, exquisite colors of the sun setting and the stars of the southern hemisphere fill the sky.
The cuisine at Mosaic is fresh, delicious and the creative mastery of the chef, baker, gardener, and local producers. Everything is homemade. Breakfast is a hearty fare with healthy grains, fresh fruit and baked goods and daily specials. Lunch is served picnic style outdoors or around blazing fires when there is a chill in the air. Sumptuous dinners are built around vegetables from Mosaic’s organic garden and local seasonal ingredients. All of which are best paired with fine South African wine from the cellar!
For ultimate rejuvenation, the MOSAIC Spa offers massage and skin therapies using only natural Rain Africa products. The Spa also offers Elemis BIOTEC facials, manicures and pedicures. Surrounded by awe-inspiring creation, it’s a place to focus on mind, body and soul and savor all that is good.
The mission at MOSAIC is one of restoration and renewal: renewal for all who visit, restoration of livelihoods in the local community through job creation, and restoration of the precious eco-system that is MOSAIC.
HISTORIC 1892 SPOOKHUIS - LUNCH, WINE & WEDDINGS:
Completely built of stacked limestone blocks in 1892, the Spookhuis is home to the Mosaic Lagoon Cafe' on the water, and a magnificent venue for weddings, special events and conferences. Southern style BBQ is served from Mosaic's own smoker (pulled pork, beef brisket and chicken). Recipes inspired from Tennessee and Texas are mixed with spices and homemade bread from South Africa. Cheese and meat platters and home made desserts can be enjoyed on the water's edge or around roaming fires indoors. Vegetables are gathered daily from the organic garden and roasted or put into salads. A boule court provides hours of fun.
The structure is a local landmark and legend in South African history. What previously was the underground cheese cellar of the 1892 Spookhuis is now home the wine cellar stocking prestige South African wine with particular attention to the Walker Bay Wine Region. Guests can hand pick their wine of choice from the cellar. Craft beer, a full bar and selection of Jack Daniels are also on offer.
Mosaic Lagoon Café – Open Wednesday – Sunday 11am – 5pm.

ACTIVITIES:
LOCATION sets Mosaic apart from all others. On the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon, Mosaic expands to a secluded part of the pristine Walker Bay Beach and Nature Reserve, the best place in the world for whale watching. As the name suggests, Mosaic offers the most multifaceted guest experience on the Whale Coast, all from the front door. With 1000 hectares and over 3 km of frontage on the Hermanus Lagoon, daytime fun varies from quad biking through fynbos clad hills, 4x4 beach excursions, relaxing lagoon cruises, kayaking, guided bird watching, wine tastings and sundowners in special places with panoramic views. Mosaic activities depart from Mosaic (without having to take a transfer many kilometers down the road).
Walker Bay, known for its “champagne air,” is a destination to be savored and where one encounters the awesome Marine Big 5: Whale, Great White Shark, Seal, Dolphin and Penguin. Southern Right Whales migrate from Antartica to mate and birth their young from June to December. They can be viewed sipping sparkling wine of the top of sand dunes on Mosaic's 4x4 beach excursions.
Viewing the abundant marine life of Walker Bay by boat is not to be missed. Mosaic will arrange your excursion to explore the Marine Big 5. The experience being eye to eye with great white sharks (from a cage!), or boat cruising in search of whales, seals and penguins is simply thrilling.
