African Safari Lodge is situated on a private game reserve 17km outside of Grahamstown. The lodge is perched 20 meters above the high-water mark on the Settlers dam with breath-taking views upriver. Animal and bird sightings along the riverbanks are a guaranteed occurrence from the spacious viewing porches. The Lodge borders the Thomas Baines Nature Reserve, situated in the main water catchment area of Grahamstown at the confluence of two rivers – the dominant Kariega River flowing 40km further to meet the Indian Ocean at Kenton-on-Sea. The beach is 45km from our Lodge, perfect for a day trip.
African Safari Lodge is a nature lover's paradise with dense ravine thickets, scattered thorn trees and open areas making this an idyllic outdoor experience.
The Lodge can be booked in its entirety or per room depending on the need. The Kudu, Nyala and Impala rooms can be booked individually on a B&B basis.
The Lodge offers 3 En-suite bedrooms furnished with either King Bed or Twin bed setup which can accommodate 6 guests. There is an additional Loft room with three single beds suitable for children. There is a communal lounge, dining area, bar with undercounter fridges and a fully equipped kitchen.
The Lodge has a spacious patio with braai (barbeque) area where one overlooks the river where one can view antelope among many other animals and birdlife.
Separate from the Lodge are the Deluxe River Suites which have their own spectacular view of the Kariega River. Each suite has a King size bed or Twin bed set up, full En-suite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and private patio with braai facilities.
