On the banks of the Duivenshok River on the southern coast of South Africa, lies a sleepy little hamlet called Vermaaklikheid. A special hideaway untouched by time and “progress”. A place where one can escape from the pressures of modern living and where body and soul can be restored.

We offer three beautiful, fully equipped, self catering cottages, for nature lovers and adventurers. The rustic facilities are thoughtful and tasteful to provide simple comfortable and easy holiday living. The unique architecture is in keeping with the indigenous buildings of this charming little hamlet. NOTE: The water front in all three housed is unguarded and not suitable for unsupervised children.

The cottages nestle into the peaceful rural surroundings with exclusive river frontage. The cottages are fully equipped, inclusive of bedding, but quests must bring their own towels.

GLORY BE - Sleeps 12
Access to this delightful cottage, right on the waters edge, is by a 15min ferry boat trip

Sleeping Accommodation consists of one double bedroom en-suite;one double bedroom with basin;one twin-bedded room with basin and two 3 bedded rooms en-suite. Separate bathroom.

There is an open plan living/kitchen/dining room with a large fire place.

The outside braai area over looks magnificent river views.

Guests have the use of a canoe and row boat onto which you may attach your own small outboard engine.

BACKTRACK - Sleeps 6
This charming cottage is situated in farmlands, surrounded by tall blond reeds with a clear shallow pond where birds come to drink. A two minute walk, 300m from the river there is private river frontage, including a jetty for fishing swimming and canoeing. This is exclusive to Back Track guests.

Sleeping Accommodation consists of a double bedded room and a twin-bedded room, both en-suite; and one twin en-suite garden room called the "Duivenshokkie".

There is an open plan kitchen/living/dining room with a log fire and a delightful outside entertainment area and braai. Guests have the use of a canoe.

BASE HUIS - Sleeps 8-10
Situated on the River front with an extensive jetty and river side recreation area.

Sleeping Accommodation consists of three twin bedded rooms downstairs. Upstairs, above the garage, there is a large double bed room with two side beds. This bedroom is called "Herons Nest" and has a beautiful river outlook.

Visitors have the use of the upstairs walkway and balconies with magnificent river views. The other upstairs rooms are locked and not available to visitors.

There is an open plan living/kitchen/dining room with a large open fire place. The outside braai and entertainment area are on the river front. There is only one shared ablution block and an outside shower. Guests have the use of a canoe and a row boat onto which they may attach their own small engine.

Dogs are allowed, provided they are well behaved and friendly and do not chase or harass wild or domestic animals, or sleep on the furniture.
