Four kilometres outside the village of Stanford on the banks of the Klein River, on Middelberg Estate, you will find the perfect getaway to explore Stanford and surrounds. Springfontein Wine Estate is almost just across the road and the Spookhuis is 6km further down Wortelgat Road. And then, of course, there's the river – a birder's paradise – which meanders down to Hermanus lagoon and the sea.
Stanford itself is a renown heritage village. Anyone who enjoys village life and Victorian architecture will revel in strolling through its peaceful streets, visiting the markets or events on its Market Square. For food lovers, Stanford offers some of the finest dining in South Africa. And then there are the wine estates which produce award-winning wines.
The Rondavel
This is a delightful and very comfortable one-bedroom, fully-equipped cottage. The bedroom has an extra-length kingsize bed. The bathroom has an Amazonian Rainforest shower. The living area has a sleeper couch that can accommodate a child, and DSTV on request. The kitchen is fully-equipped with fridge, stove, microwave and all necessary utensils. There is a braai on the deck outside with firewood supplied. A canoe is available to use on the river.
Rate: R550 for the rondavel per night, minimum two nights.
