A talk about the our place in the Universe, from planets to galaxies, to stars, comets and space stations.
If you have ever been curious about our exact location in the Universe and what you can or cannot see with the naked eye; then come to S.A. Astronomical Observatory on Saturday, 24 Jan at 20h00 where Dr. Bruno Letarte will give a public lecture titled "Our place in the Universe".
Summary of the talk
From comets to galaxies, artificial satellites, planets and shooting stars, what can we see in the night sky? From near to far, minuscule to astronomical, we will cover the whole range of objects that you might have seen with the naked eye, in movies, online, heard of in a story or in the news. Our solar system and its planets, the different types of stars and the galaxies in our Universe. We will also talk about the International Space Station and how you can easily see it pass 400 km above the surface of our planet like a slow-moving super bright star, right on top of our heads. It will be the ideal place for you to ask questions about the night sky, learn or refresh your knowledge about our place in the Universe.
