It is important for every spectator to familiarise themselves with the Park and Ride facilities, because all roads leading to and from stadiums would be closed on match days. Barricades would be erected on all affected roads and traffic would be diverted to alternative routes. As always, different security layers would be enforced around match precincts, and only authorised public transport, emergency vehicles and VIP vehicles with permits would be allowed access.

Spectators must not leave their transport arrangements till the last minute.
As part of the City’s comprehensive transport plan for the World Cup, there will be a number of travel options to get to match venues. There are designated Park and Ride facilities for those who will be driving, Park and Walk facilities, Rea Vaya, Metrorail trains and two integrated transport hubs at Westgate – from where Metrorail and Rea Vaya will operate – and in Sandton, from where Metrobuses and the Gautrain will operate.
There will be four Park and Rides for Ellis Park matches – at Bezuidenhout Valley Park, at Wits University’s West Campus on Enoch Sontonga Street, at Constitution Hill and at Gold Reef City. Park and Rides for Soccer City will be at Gold Reef City, Constitution Hill and Wits.
After parking their vehicles, spectators will be ferried to the stadium in shuttle buses and returned to the car park after the game. There will be a fee per car to use the Park and Ride, to cover security guards to keep a watch on the cars. They will open four hours before kick-off on match days, and close once all spectators have reached their cars.

Through using Park and Rides, the City hopes that fans will avoid any traffic backlog near match venues.

There will also be a limited option for those who wish to Park and Walk. Park and Walks are designated areas near the stadiums that are available for you to safely park your car for a fee and are close enough for you to easily follow the signage and walk to the stadium and back on match days.

There will also be a facility in Aeroton, on Roadshow Road, and on an open piece of land where Shareworld used to be located for fans going to Soccer City.
Spectators who want to use the Park and Ride facilities must book space for their vehicles by buying a transport ticket through Ticketbreak.
