About us:

A quick 30 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport, Tales of Whales Guest house is the perfect choice for the weary traveller or businessman looking for that special “Home-Away-From-Home”.  The house is centrally situated in Strand, with close access to all amenities, shops, and a short 2 minute drive to Strand beach, 10 minutes from Gordon’s Bay beach, or a 5 minute drive to Somerset Mall.

The main house has three private, very spacious, luxurious en suite rooms: Sandpiper with bath en suite, Seaweed with shower en suite.  Driftwood with bath en suite also has a small sun deck attached to the room.  The common area of the house boasts a cosy lounge area where guests can comfortably enjoy a movie, or just relax in front of a warm log fire.  We have a dining area where guests may enjoy a visit over dinner – seats 8.

Set in luscious gardens, a tranquil little tea garden can be found under the trees, as well as an inviting, sparkling blue pool for those hot summer days or evenings.  There is an outdoor lapa and braai area for the guys (or gals) to show off their cooking skills.

For a more private stay, we have a separate cottage:  Strandloper Cottage (Afrikaans for beachcomber) which has a Shower en suite on the upper level, with a kitchenette and small lounge with a TV downstairs.

We are a self-catering establishment, however, at an extra charge, can arrange breakfasts and dinners and a laundry service.  Good deals on tours in and around the Helderberg and Cape Town can also be organised.
