Maguga Lodge

Maguga Lodge is located within some of the oldest mountains in the world on the edge of the spectacular Maguga Dam. Only 20 kms from Piggs Peak in the heart of the Hhohho region in The Kingdom of Swaziland, ideal for travellers from Kruger Park, Mpumalanga or Mozambique!

To help you experience the beauty and nature around Maguga dam in The Kingdom of Swaziland, Maguga Lodge has an array of activities, comfortable accommodation and friendly staff. There are 35 Rondavel rooms sleeping two persons and a family unit, all with en-suite bathroom, DSTV, air conditioning and patio. We have 2 self-catering cottages on the banks of the dam; one sleeping 4 people and the other 10 people. Camping sites at the waters edge or away from the dam should you prefer. We boast a large Restaurant with a-la-Carte menu (buffet can be pre arranged for larger groups) and deck looking out to the dam (Open daily from 7am - 9pm) as well as a stunning pool and lapa area, superb conference facilities and a range of activities. Our versatile venue makes Maguga Lodge an excellent and scenic choice for holidays, conferencing and weddings.

ACTIVITIES The Highveld is full of beauty and nature in every direction. Enjoy a boat cruise along the waters taking in this scenery or for the more energetic hike the hills sides. If you are a fisherman bring along your rod and tackle. Or relax in your own room with a treatment from our beauty therapist.

If you’d like to experience authentic Swazi life the nearby Mnisi homestead will welcome a visit or Mbeka High School will dance Swazi Sibhaca and sing Ndlamu for you.

CONFERENCING Our conference facilities are fully equipped providing free wifi and host of amenities to suit your needs, including the gourmet kitchen making Maguga Lodge a one-stop location for your event.

We have three different venues for your conference, all with views of the Maguga dam and seating from 200 to 15 delegates depending on your requirements.

WEDDINGS We offer an unmatched location of vistas of natural beauty with rolling mountains, bright clear skies and the magnificent Maguga Dam, and a variety of magical options for your special day.

GEOLOGY The mountains in view boast a long and prestigious existence, towering over this small Kingdom for over the last 3500 million years and leaving behind evidence of some of the oldest and best-preserved sequence of volcanic and sedimentary rocks on earth. Brilliantly preserved rock art, Nsangweni Rock Art, can be found hidden in rock faces throughout the landscape and well worth the visit.

The valley at the bottom of this ancient mountain range is the large basin fresh water dam, fed from the Komati River. The waters edge weaves through the staggering peaks on either side, and spills over a steep 115m dam wall on the south edge, (viewed from Maguga Lodge) where the Komati River creates beautiful rock sculptures and gorges as the river continues to flow south towards the heart of Swaziland.
