Stanford is an outstanding heritage village. It's one of the few towns in South Africa where a Market Square is intact, and the village core retains the historic Victorian streetscapes. It's the sort of place where you walk rather than drive, and where kids can play in the streets.

the Klein River

Stanford lies on the bank of the Klein River and wetlands wind their way through the village. It's a haven for bird life and Stanford is a popular destination for birders, hosting one of SA's premier bird fairs. But the river is also popular among canoeists, waterskiers and boating enthusiasts.

food & wine

Stanford boasts some of SA's best-known dining establishments and it's becoming a foodie's haven. But the area is also becoming renown for the fine wines from several wine estates.

weddings

Stanford has become one of the most popular wedding locations in the Western Cape and weddings have become one of the biggest generators of business for the village. While Beloftebos has been at the heart of this, the village also has two churches.
Stanford is quaint, because it has preserved the village architecture from an earlier era. The Klein River winds down the Akkedisberg valley and is very much part of the town's character - and leisure resource. It's no sleepy town, rather it celebrates food and wine with renown wine estates, a cheesery and micro-brewery. Between the Klein River, Hermanus lagoon and vast beaches, there's no shortage of outings for the family.
