Are we in danger of being hit by asteroids?
Prof. David Trilling from University of Northern Arizona who is visiting South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), will give a public talk titled "When asteroids hit the Earth" at 20h00 on Saturday 14 March at SAAO.
Summary of the talk
Near Earth Asteroids are asteroids whose orbits bring them close to the Earth. The study of these asteroids tells us about how the Solar System formed, and also how to prepare for an asteroid hitting the Earth. Professor David Trilling will present what we can learn about these asteroids as they fly by the Earth and as we visit them with space missions.
