Encounters will be the theme of The Cape Gallery's 2013 Wildlife Exhibition.

Urbanisation and industry are reforming the world we live in at the cost of the ‘other’ wild ecologies – the wild Edens that flit across our TV screens, transient, persistent memories of what was. And yet these memories touch a lost chord in the soul of our being – there is still a connection to who we once were. Some of the artists approach their subject endowing the creatures & plants with human attributes. Some protest at the devastating effect industry has had on the natural environment. Some approach and observe wildlife in its pristine condition. The artists exhibiting in The Cape Gallery 2013 Wild Life exhibition have each had unique and individual encounters with the subjects they portray; some real, some imaginary.

Participating artists include: Noel Ashton, Tania Babb, Lin Barrie, Edmund Barton, Bowen Boshier, Janet Botes, Fuz Caforio, Keith Calder, Ron Campbell, Sylvia de Villiers, Teresa Decinti, Paul Dixon, Peter Diggery, Kitty Dorje, Zakkie Eloff, John Ellison, Erica Fraser, Gary Frier, Tony Grogan, Margot Hattingh, Jenny Hyde-Johnson, Barry Jackson, Di Johnson – Ackerman, Angela Key, Thami Kitty, Marinda Koch, Robert Koch, Natalia Konanova, Karin Kruger, David Kuijers, Debbie le Sueur, Jen Lewis, Sue Maas, Robert G Marshall, Mandy McKay, Adolfo Mcque, Cathy McShannon, Peter Midlane, Nola Muller, Errol Norbury, John Perry, Sheila Petousis, Elizabeth Poulsom, Michelle Rall, Bridget Randall, John Robert, Joan Schrauwen, Miriam Schwartz, Lyn Smuts, Marilyn Southey, Rosie Sturgis, Steve Tugwell, Cobus van der Walt, Joan van Gogh, Douw van Heerden, Ian van Zyl, Ron Waldeck, Judy Woodborne, Helen Vale Xenos
